Spoken audio inside an MP4 container

MP4 packages video and audio tracks. A transcript comes from spoken audio, not the file extension or on-screen text. Silent footage needs a different workflow and cannot supply speech for transcription.

Recordings, lessons, and presentation videos

Use an MP4 exported from a camera, meeting recorder, or video editor. The local picker checks the .mp4 extension and video/mp4 media type when provided. Genooi performs the actual upload and media checks.

Public links and large videos

For a public link with existing subtitles, use Video to Text instead of uploading a local video. Local MP4 transcription requires Genooi sign-in and is subject to its current limits. Compression can reduce transfer size, but excessive compression may affect the source.

MP4 to Text FAQs

Does MP4 to Text transcribe speech or read text in video frames?

The transcription workflow is for spoken audio in a video, not OCR of slides or subtitles burned into the image. MoiMobi checks the local MP4 format and sends you to Genooi to continue. A silent video cannot provide spoken words for an audio transcript.

Do I need to extract audio from an MP4 before transcribing it?

You can select the MP4 directly here; a separate audio conversion is not required for this handoff. Whether the processing service can decode its audio is checked in Genooi. Keeping the original video also gives you a reference when reviewing the transcript.

Can I get text from an MP4 link that already has captions?

For a supported public video link with an available caption track, use Video to Text to extract the existing text on MoiMobi. This MP4 page is for local recordings and does not infer captions from a filename or from pixels in the video.

Does every MP4 file use the same video and audio codecs?

No. MP4 is a container, and different files can contain different codecs or no audio at all. The local extension and MIME check is not a full media compatibility test. If processing fails, inspect the source recording and the service error instead of renaming it.

Can I download subtitles from my MP4 transcript here?

This page does not create or store an uploaded MP4 transcript. Review transcript and timed subtitle export choices after processing in Genooi. To create new subtitles from a recording, open Subtitle Generator rather than expecting a timed file from the local format check.
