Container and codec are different
A .m4a filename does not establish the audio codec inside it. The picker accepts the M4A extension with Genooi supported audio media types; processing compatibility is checked by Genooi after upload.

Can I transcribe an M4A recording without converting it to MP3?
Yes, M4A is one of the audio containers accepted by this local selector. Continue to M4A to Text in Genooi and upload the original there after sign-in. Conversion to MP3 is not part of this page and can introduce unnecessary quality loss.
Is an M4A voice memo the same as a transcript?
No. M4A stores audio, while a transcript stores the words spoken in it. A phone memo must first be exported as a normal audio file and then processed for speech recognition. Selecting an M4A on MoiMobi checks the file format; it does not reveal a hidden text transcript.
Why might one M4A recording work while another fails?
The M4A extension identifies a container rather than guaranteeing a particular audio codec or a valid recording. An empty, damaged, or differently encoded file can fail later processing even if its name looks correct. Test playback and review the actual error in Genooi.
Does converting M4A to WAV make speech recognition more accurate?
Not by itself. A WAV copy does not recover speech detail that is absent from the M4A source. Prefer the clearest original recording, reduce avoidable noise during recording, and check the resulting text against the audio.
